International Women's Day 2020

International Women's Day (IWD) is celebrated annually on March 8th and it has been celebrated since 1911. When we look into the history of this festival, then we will find out the birthplace of IWD is NewYork. Immense unrest and critical debate were occurring amongst women. Women's oppression and inequality were spurring women to become more vocal and active in campaigning for change. Then in 1908, 15,000 women marched through New York City demanding shorter hours, better pay and voting rights. With the development of the protest movement, International Women's Day was transferred to 8 March instead of the last Sunday of February and this day has remained the global date for International Women's Day ever since.
In my country, Women's Day is one of the most important days of the year. Women from all walks of life get a day or half a day off on this festival to celebrate their own holiday, for instance, they will go shopping or get together with their best friend, even receive wishes and gifts from others. Take my mom as an example, she wont cook a meal or clean the house on this day cause we all support her to hang out and have a rest.

There are also several events that were held all around the world to celebrate this great festival. For instance, women are able to post their #IWD2020 message on social media with their 'hands out' equal pose for a strong call-to-action for others to support #EachforEqual. Meanwhile, the International Association of Women NYC chapter will host a High Tea Reception at The View of the World for High Tea. A portion of the registration fee will be donated to the Girl Scouts of the United States.

Beyond that, many famous musicians have composed great songs to celebrate this day, and here are the top 10 songs that impressed me so much:

1. I Am Woman by Helen Reddy
2. Run the World(Girls) by Beyonce
3. Girl on Fire by Alicia Keys
4. Stronger by Britney Spears
5. Boys Wanna Be Her by Peaches
6. Both Sides Now by Joni Mitchell
7. Hold On by Wilson Phillips
8. Beneath Your Beautiful by Labrinth, Emeli Sande
9. Survivor by Destinys Child
10. KnockEm Out by Lily Allen

Bonus: If you happen to be interested in transferring these songs above from your Mac to your iOS devices(iPhone/iPad/iPod, etc.), then you may check out this practical tutorial here: https://www.leawo.org/tutorial/how-to-download-music-from-mac-to-iphone.html?=1400

In the end, I wish women from all over the world could enjoy their own festival as well as make progress in their field!
