There has been a lot of debates and arguments about this question -- whether you should put a case on your iPhone (or any other smartphone)? Although whether you should use a case depends on your personal preferences (of course!), there are indeed pros and cons in both options. In this blog post, I'll show you what's good and bad about using a case, and my personal recommendations of which option you should choose.
What's good about using an iPhone case?
Extra protection
People are scared of their iPhone being broken or they drop things very often. They know they might spend a lot of time and effort recovering their data if they broke their iPhone and they don't want that happen. They are also concerned about the scratches by hard objects in their pocket, or the coat on the side/back may chip off itself.
A case relieves these worries. It make it less likely to damage their iPhone. And to add another layer of protection, people usually put on a screen protector along with the case.
Customized appearance
Another reason to use a case is it brings more possibilities to how your iPhone looks. Putting on a case can change your iPhone look all at once. It looks awesome when your iPhone looks "different" than others. And you can be very creative with this, as long as you can find the unique case you like, or if you ask the case seller to customize your own design.
What's bad about using an iPhone case?
Extra weight and volume
Protection comes at a cost. This holds true for the case protection. It makes your iPhone looks and feels bulkier, especially if you're using a case with a thicker design. Think of putting it in your pocket, or carrying it around -- it definitely makes you feel more uncomfortable.
More dirt
When you put a case of your iPhone, you create corners and crannies for dirt. It will easily get accumulated in those places. It doesn't look good, it requires you to clean your iPhone regularly, and it can also do harm to your device surface.
A possible cause of overheat
The heat of your iPhone is supposed to go away as fast as possible so your device is working properly. If your case is acting like an obstacle of your iPhone cooling system (it often does!), you will easily get an overheating issue and your iPhone can get in trouble.
What should you choose?

In my personal view:
- If the possibility of breaking or scratching your iPhone really concerns you, or if you have the habit of dropping things accidentally, get a case. It's always safe than sorry. Retrieving data from a broken iPhone is troublesome these days ( you may need a good third-party data recovery software). So why not take the security measure before anything bad happens
But please note that this doesn't save you every time you're about to damage your iPhone. Sometimes the screen just breaks even if a case is on. - Otherwise, just don't use them.
Just think of it this way: Its lightness and design were two of the important reasons you chose to buy an iPhone. And those were achieved by a great amount of time of hard work by the designers and the engineers of Apple. Then you hide the beauty and lightness just because of a cheaper case that probably doesn't look as good as you think... Is that worth it?
Plus, as mentioned above, a case doesn't mean 100% safe protection. And sometimes it can be a problem itself. So think again!
Hopefully this post has helped you learn about if you should choose a case. If you have anything you would like to say, leave a comment below!
