How to Block a Contact on your iPhone?

Is someone sending you annoying or spam calls, messages, etc. to your iPhone? Before things get so worse you need to call the police, you can try blocking these frustrating contacts on your iPhone. Here in this post, I'll show you how to do this easily, and what would happen if you block a contact.

How to block a contact on your iPhone

Here is how to block contacts on your iPhone:

Note that sometimes weird things may happen when you try to block a contacts. For example, some text messages or call histories may disappear. If you think these data are important and want to back them up, you may need the help of a power data transfer tool.

  1. Open your App settings.
  2. Go to Mail, Phone, Messages, or FaceTime. (They can all lead to the same destination so choose the one you like).
  3. Tap Blocked Contacts (or Blocked if you are on the Mail settings).
  4. Select Add New to add the new contact you want to block.
Once you've added the contact in the block list, you won't be able to receive their phone calls, messages, emails or FaceTime, until you block them.

How to unblock a contact on your iPhone
If you have used the method above to block a contact, then unblocking it is also very easy:
  1. Follow step 1-3 in the methods above to go to the Blocked Contacts list.
  2. Swipe left the contact you want to unblock, then tap the Unblock button.
What happen when you block a contact
As mentioned above, you won't be able to receive their phone calls, messages, emails or FaceTime. But what will happen on their side?
  • Phone calls: When a blocked caller makes a phone call, it will be sent to your voicemail inbox, and to a group called "Blocked Messages". This may let them know that they are blocked.
  • Email and text messages: The email and text messages sent from a blocked contacts simply go to nowhere. On their device, the messages seem to be delivered successfully, but they won't reach your inbox.
  • FaceTime calls: When a blocked contact calls you on FaceTime, the call won't be rejected. It will ring until the caller hangs up. But you won't even know what happens because the call is blocked.
