iPhone is great, but it still draws criticism because of its drawbacks. One of them is the "short" battery life (compared to a lot of Android cellphones). It often make its user uneasy when they don't see a power source nearby or they don't carry a portable charger with their phone.
Because of that, it's very important for iPhone users to know the tips and tricks to make their battery drains a little bit slower. Here in this post, we've compiled a list of tips that can help iPhone users extend their battery life. So take a look!
Tip 1: Enable Low Power Mode
Our first suggestion is that, if your iPhone is going to be away from power for long, you should keep Low Power Mode on. It reduces the time it takes to lock your screen, and pause the features like email fetch, "Hey Siri", iCloud photo downloads. This earns you at least one hour of battery life.
To enable Low Power Mode. Open your Settings app, and then tap Battery. You'll see the switch of Low Power Mode there.
Tip 2: Turn off Background App Refresh
Your apps may refresh their content in the background, and thus drain the battery faster. You can turn these off to save your battery.
To turn off Background App Refresh, go to Settings > General > Background App Refresh. There is a switch on the top that turns everything off. But if you don't want that, you can turn off the refresh for specific apps below. What apps you want to do this to is completely up to you, but we suggest that you check their battery usage (Settings > Battery) and turn off those that consumes a lot more battery than the others.
Tip 3: Turn off Automatic Downloads
By default, your iPhone automatically downloads any new purchase you make and any system update released. This is sometimes unnecessary, and may drain your power fast. if you don't like them, just turn them off.
To turn off Automatic Downloads, you should go to Settings > [your name] > iTunes & App Store. You can turn off all the auto downloads there, or only some of them if you think they are important for you.
Tip 4: Turn off Bluetooth and AirDrop
Bluetooth and AirDrop help you transfer files from your iPhone, or connect your iPhone to your wireless devices, like your headphones. It also costs you battery when you keep them on. If you don't need them now, it may be better for you to turn them off. To do this:
- Swipe up from the bottom of your iPhone screen.
- Tap and hold the card at upper-left.
- Turn off Bluetooth and AirDrop (they are NOT blue when off).
Now your battery won't be affected by these two features. You can turn them on when you want to transfer files, or you can transfer with a more convenient, third-party transfer tool to do this.
Tip 5: Turn on Reduce Motion
The animation of the iPhone UI looks great. But it can also be a battery life consumer. So if that's not necessary for you, you can turn it off. To do so, go to Settings > Accessibility > Motion, and then turn on Reduce Motion.
That's it! These are the tips that we have collected that can effective save your iPhone battery life. Do you have any other tips you want to share? Leave a comment below!
