What Should I Do If My iPhone Gets Wet?

There are several situations that your iPhone gets wet, including drinking, pure water, pond water, toilet water and oil. All the liquid above, according to our test, will ignite and corrode the main board of your iPhone when it connect to power. There is BMS (battery manage system) in battery, which will cut down the power when it is short-circuited or the current is too large. However, if it gets wet, it will no longer work.

Drinking water is less corrosive, while sea water and dirty water from toilet are more corrosive. There is a test that pouring water on main board is just like pouring water on a lotus leaf, which will not get corrosive after few days placement.
So the key point is how to deal with it once it dropped into water.

Step 1: Pick it up from water immediately. And remember DO NOT SPIN-DRY! It will make water in your iPhone flow to everywhere, which will corrode more places. Generally, water will not reach to main board if it is just sink for no long.

Step 2: Turn off your iPhone. No matter the screen is on or off, turn off your iPhone to reduce the loss of main board from short circuit. After shutting down, we can move to the next step.

Step 4: Contact Apple or professionals to clean up water stains in the phone.
