iPhone SE Plus Rumors, Leaks, Release Date, Size & Price

The first generation of iPhone SE was first launched by Apple Inc. in 2016. It is the first iPhone device named without number. The SE means "Special Edition", or you can regard it as the entry-level of iPhone. Apple launched the second generation of iPhone SE last year, which has almost the same design as iPhone 8. Only the chip has been upgraded to A13, the same as iPhone 11 series. However, its performance is very strong, even compare to Android mobiles at the same price. We once thought that iPhone 12 series will bring the new SE, but we are wrong, the "SE" actually is mini. According to the latest rumors, Apple will release the new iPhone SE Plus (or iPhone SE 2021) this year. How the phone looks like? And How much it will cost? Let's check it out.

iPhone SE Plus Release Date

Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo estimated we might not see the iPhone SE Plus until the second half of 2021. We expect that iPhone SE Plus will be launched in autumn 2021, alongside the iPhone 13.  Most of iPhone models got an upgrade each year (except iPhone 5c, there may be no more c-series iPhones because of poor sales), but the schedule of SE series seems to be more unpredictable. The first generation of iPhone SE was launched in 2016, but it was roughly 2 years when the second generation released in 2018. 

iPhone SE Plus Design & Size

In terms of new features, we have never expected too much in SE series. It is more about transferring technology in previous iPhone to the entry-level SE series. Unlike its name, iPhone SE Plus will directly adopt the design of iPhone 8 Plus, instead, the screen size of SE Plus will be upgraded to 6.1 inches which is the same as iPhone XR and as well iPhone 11. 

According to the leak, iPhone SE Plus will adopt A14 (or A13) processor. Note that it will support 5G if it is A14, but not if it is A13. Besides, it will be equipped with12mp single rear lens and 7mp single front lens, both of them support the latest Night Mode, OIS and the third generation of Smart HDR. What's more, it is very likely that Touch ID will return, but this time it is not in Home screen, in side button. This will also be the first iPhone with the Touch ID in side button. In addition, the iPhone SE Plus will also be added IP67 dust and water resistance. Although it is not as good as IP68 in flagships, it can resist solid objects such as dust and sand. It also supports at least 30 minute of work in 1m water.

iPhone SE Price

If it selects the most cost-effective new iPhone in 2020, the second generation of iPhone SE will be the first place. As for price of the iPhone SE Plus, it will be $100 more expensive than iPhone SE 2020, start at $499. And there will be three colors - black, white and red. As comparison, iPhone 12 series start at $699, and iPhone 12 Pro series start at $999.

As suggestion, if you are using iPhone 8/8 plus or previous iPhone, and you don't have enough budget, iPhone SE Plus is a good choice to upgrade. By that time, if you are willing to switch your previous iPhone to the new iPhone SE Plus, don't forget to back up your iPhone in case data losses. If you are an iPhone Xs/Xs Max user, I assume that you have no shortage of budget. Then iPhone 12 and 12 Pro series are great for upgrading.
